SqlXml Deprecated

Posted in Sql and Xml at Monday, February 07, 2005 4:03 AM Pacific Standard Time

SqlXml is on the “deprecated” data technology list [via Kent]:

These components are still supported in the current release of MDAC, but might be removed in future releases. Microsoft recommends that when you develop new applications, you avoid using these components. Additionally, when you upgrade or modify existing applications, remove any dependency on these components.

Even though SqlXml is on this list, we read:

This component [SqlXml] is not being deprecated, but it is being removed from future MDAC releases. Current and later versions of this product are available as Web downloads. SQL XML will be available on the 64-bit Windows operating system. [Emphasis mine]

Ok, got that? It is on the list of deprecated technologies, but it is not being deprecated, so this leaves it as just unappreciated. :)

Update: I had to update this post since I confused deprecated with depreciated. :)
